Boston Officials Knew that of Leader of Corrupt Cops Was on Cocaine
            According to a story in today’s Boston Globe, the City of Boston has known since 1999 that the leader of the corrupt cops was on cocaine. Yet the City has for seven years allowed him to continue his job as a city policeman. It is only because of the FBI sting that this disgrace has finally surfaced.
            The Globe says it got today’s story from “two law enforcement officials with knowledge of the episode.”
            The City is attempting to protect itself by blaming the police union for the scandal. But the use of narcotics by a police officer in most cities requires an immediate dismissal, including New York and Los Angeles, even if the drug is marijuana. Why the City has not made a public outcry against such a system has not been answered,
           Experts from outside the state told the Globe: “It is also the worry that to obtain illegal drugs, police officers must interact with criminals or their associates and can be compromised.”
           Another told the Globe: “You can’t buy drugs in a department store. There’s a potential of serious misconduct because the cop has an underground relationship with a drug dealer.”
