Freedom Will Conquer Racism |
 Those who favor it the most are the labor unions representing workers who already have a job. In South Africa, where discrimination against blacks has always been the worst, the unions have always pushed for a high minimum wage because it helped those who already had jobs and kept out those who were on the outside --- i.e. Blacks.  On Monday, the legislature voted to reject Governor Romney’s recommedation, which would have kept the minimum wage increase at 25 cents, instead of $1.25. The bill to increase the minimum wage to $8.00 an hour over the course of two years represents the highest minimum wage in the country. The legislation is expected to reach Romney’s desk today and is considered “veto proof”.  During debate, Republican lawmakers tried to compromise and keep the rate at $7.75, which would still be highest in the country ( |
