Massachusetts Extreme Feminists Have a Cool New Website
called “Free Press” that is “Under-the-Radar”
We’ve discovered that a new national
website called “Free
Press” is in reality a front for lesbians and other radical
feminists --- and is headquartered right here in the beautiful Connecticut
River Valley in Northampton, home of Smith College.
It’s been in business for four years.
We discovered Free Press while surfing on Google. It says
it is a “national media reform organization.” It criticizes the national media just as we do.
We were drawn to it while trying to determine whether Pinch
Sulzberger and the New York Times own the “Discovery” channel. It
gave us some useful information on that, as well as on the History
channel and the National Geographic.
It says it is neither a “liberal” nor a “conservative” organization.
It even mentions well known conservatives with the implication
that they support Free Press. These include Brent Bozell, Wayne LaPierre
of the National Rifle Association, Senator Trent Lott, Phyllis Schlafly
and former Senator Jesse Helms.
Under a question, “Who Leads the Media Reform Movement,” it
says, “Free Press is one of a burgeoning number of groups active in
media reform.”
If one bothers to search a little more, he will find that
its President is a professor at the U. of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
and has written extensively and is closely affiliated with National
Public Radio. Also on the Board is the President of NOW and the Washington
correspondent of The Nation magazine.
Although they also list the Stanford lawyer, Lawrence Lessig,
as a Board member, he does not return the favor and does not mention
Free Press on his personal website. Lessig is a conservative who clerked
for both Judge Posner on the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals and Justice
Scalia on the Supreme Court. After law school, Lessig spent some time
at Oxford and is in the process of rethinking his beliefs. If he ever
did flirt with Free Press, he has apparently thought better of it,
but they will continue to clench him as tightly as they do Jesse Helms.
There are many people listed as “staff” who have connections
to radical organizations in the Northampton area.
