Today Pegged for Roll Out of Economic
Stimulus Plan
State House News Service
7-28-05
House leaders will unveil their
plan for stimulating the state’s economy today, developed after
spending six weeks this spring traveling across the state to determine
the needs of private, public and academic leaders.
House Speaker Salvatore DiMasi
joins Reps. David Torrisi (D-North Andover), chairman of the Community
Development and Small Business Committee; Daniel Bosley (D-North Adams),
chairman of the Economic Development and Emerging Technologies Committee;
and Michael Rodrigues (D-Westport), chairman of the Labor and Workforce
Development Committee at an afternoon press conference to outline the
proposal.
Lawmakers and aides say the
proposal is one of many to be rolled out by the House, in attempts to
lure companies to Massachusetts and help existing businesses expand here.
Business representatives will join House leaders, along with Reps. Eric
Turkington (D-Falmouth) and Jeffrey Sanchez (D-Boston) at the event. The
Senate is expected to announce its own plan in the fall. Thursday's press
conference
is at 2 pm in the House Member’s Lounge.
