This was an enormous threat to our Legislature by an extremely well funded and well organized movement.  It was carried out in a particularly dishonest, untruthful, and intimidating manner.  About the only outward evidence people saw in the districts was a lot of slick, well-produced mailings from organizations with names like "MassEquality", telephone polling, canvassing, cars in the neighborhoods with out of state license plates, a lot of activity.  But to pro-marriage incumbents, it was frightening – something they'd never seen before.  Although several of these endorsements were only made public this past week, in other cases it was clear from the beginning.

We focused on protecting incumbents, but also helped other campaigns. Although we were only able to raise a fraction of the money they brought in, we also helped mobilize people in the districts and elsewhere.  We did our best to figure out where we could be most effective with the resources we had, and went to work!

Article 8 Alliance worked with several races behind the scenes.  We did educational mailings to voters exposing the stealth campaigns, deceitful tactics, and true agendas of these groups and their candidates.  The results should speak for themselves.

Out of 200 seats in the House and Senate, the homosexuals could only pull out an overall net gain of 2 supporters in the open-seat elections, nothing more.

(Mitt Romney's State Republican Party, by the was no help at all. They refused to campaign on the same-sex marriage issue. They held back support from strong pro-marriage candidates. In fact, they funded pro-gay marriage candidates. And as a result, the Republicans suffered a net loss in both the House and Senate! So the heavy lifting on this issue was left to Article 8 Alliance.)

===  2.  Rep. Vinnie Ciampa's write-in campaign – still being counted.  ===

As you know, probably the hottest race of all was in Somerville / Medford, as Rep. Vinnie Ciampa battled back as a write-in candidate against Carl Sciortino, an anti-Catholic homosexual activist who beat Vinnie the Democratic primary by a sliver of 93 votes, in an unbelievably well-funded and well organized blitz where he never mentioned his real past or agenda.  Unfortunately, Vinnie didn't heed our advice during the primary to let us help him expose Sciortino.

Read about Carl Sciortino here.

Vinnie came back strong for the write-in campaign.  After two massive  Article 8 mailings into the district, the issue came to the forefront, no question about it.  People came to the polls.  But a sticker campaign is still tough.

Because stickers are often placed odd parts of a ballot, the optical scanner does not always read them properly.  So a manual count is necessary.  It could be a lengthy process.  We'll know more in a few days, and we'll get back to you.

One thing we will also elaborate on in our next email involves a more distasteful aspect of that election.  Carl Sciortino's poll workers (almost none of whom could be recognized by anyone who lived in town) were unbelievably vicious, vulgar, intimidating, and generally out of control.  It was horrible.  They did whatever they could to keep voters from legally getting stickers or Vinnie's literature.  Vinnie's elderly uncle was assaulted by a few of these goons and is in the hospital.  Somerville is certainly a bare-knuckle place, but no one has ever seen anything like this.  The gay movement shows its colors.  And (need we say) the police generally weren't interested in getting involved.

===  3.  Homosexual money in Mass races – probably over $1 million.  ===

This is starting to sound like a broken record.  Last week the Boston Globe reported that the Washington DC-based Human Rights Campaign, a wealthy, hard-core homosexual group, had sent $650,000 into Massachusetts to change our Legislature.  Today's Boston Globe quoted a state homosexual political action group, MassEquality, as having spent $700,000 on 20 legislature campaigns, as well as bringing in "hundreds" of people to help with the campaigns.

SupportEquality, another local homosexual political action group, just reported that they've raised $104,000 in October alone, along with $15,000 and $25,000 matching "challenges" so far in November.

And that's just what we know about.  For example, there's the money raised at the recent Human Rights Campaign fundraiser at the Boston World Trace Center a few weeks ago, where Volvo donated a car to be auctioned off, proceeds going to fight us.

===  4.  Margaret Marshall's legacy:  11 out of 11 referendum wins across America!  ===

It's been said that Margaret Marshall is the single person most responsible for Pres. Bush's re-election.  In eleven states, including Ohio, droves of people came out to vote to stop the spread of same-sex marriage from Massachusetts.

On Tuesday, the issue of maintaining marriage as an institution for one man and one woman was resoundingly approved by voters in every state where the question was on the ballot.

The issues passed by the following percentages:

Arkansas--75%

Georgia --77%

Kentucky--75%

Michigan--59%

Mississippi--86%

Montana--66%

North Dakota--73%

Ohio--62%

Oklahoma--76%

Oregon--57%

Utah--66%

Read the Associated Press report, in the Boston Herald.

What does that tell you?  Of course, our Legislature thinks it knows better than to allow us to actually have the same right to vote, as we found out in 2002.  Our work is cut out for us.

===  5.  Fundraising update toward Article 8 Election 2004 goal.   ===

Our original goal was $100,000.  That was pretty ambitious.

SO IN OUR LAST EMAIL WE ASKED YOU:  It's the final days before the election.  Can we reach $40,000 ??

THE ANSWER: YES!!!  As of today, our fundraising for the election, since October 1, made it to $40,715 !!

From all the activity we took on, we're still a little bit in debt.  BUT THIS IS GREAT!!  Candidates were depending on us, and we were able to help..

As we've said, there's a reason the Boston Globe and others have started to attack Article 8 Alliance.  It's because we're effective.  Our targeted informational mailings, mobilization of citizens from across the Commonwealth, strategic press conferences, helping candidates understand and fight the juggernaut of the homosexual movement coming into their district to take over.  These all make a difference.  And the homosexual lobby can't stand it!

We've been up against the huge funding that the homosexual movement has generated for to take over our Legislature. That's why your continued donations REALLY are important.  We're here to get the job done.

AS WE’VE BEEN SAYING ALL ALONG – IT’S UP TO THE PEOPLE NOW!  THIS CAN AND WILL BE WON.
