Mitt Romney Fails Again to Show Leadership
Mitt Romney
failed again in yesterday’s election as he watched his “reform candidates”
go down to defeat and fail to gain any new seats, with a net loss of three
seats in the legislature.
Romney told Jennifer Peters
at A.P.: “We haven’t picked up the seats that we hoped to pick up. I wish
we could have narrowed the gap.”
But it was pointed out by
Sally Pawlick, President of Mass. Citizens for Marriage, that yesterday’s
election showed that if anyone is going to challenge gay marriage in this
state, they must do so aggressively.
“It does no good to just say
you oppose homosexual ‘marriage,’” she explained. “The only ones who were
aggressive were six of the seven targeted legislators who listened to
the consultants, Brian Camenker and Jim Lafferty. Where Vinnie Ciampi
waffled both times, in the primary and the general election, he will be
waiting for a week or more to see if he won or not.”
Pawlick pointed out that if
you simply say you oppose homosexual “marriage,” you just expose yourself
as a bigot to the radical feminist lobby. She says you must not be afraid
of the issue as Ciampi was and try to avoid it; you must explain your
reasoning at every stop as one of the most important issues of the day.
Romney Also Included
Gov. Romney has also run from the issue
since day number one, says Pawlick. She pointed out that Romney goes across
the country saying he opposes such “marriage,” but he has demonized those
in his state who also oppose it.
“He started his primary campaign
in 2002 by humiliating his wife, son and daughter-in-law who had all signed
the petition for the Protection of Marriage Amendment. If he is against
such ‘marriage,’ how can he explain his actions? He can’t. Does he really
believe that people can’t see that? He only helps the radical left with
that type of conduct.
“It would be wonderful if
he could step back and work with his allies here in the state for a change,
instead of battling them. There is still time to unify this state, but
he is merely dividing it at this point. We will never win if some leader
does not do so.”
As a result, Pawlick pointed out, Democrats
have increased their number of seats in the 200 member legislature to
all but 29 seats by taking away from the Republicans an additional one
in the Senate and two in the House. This leaves Republicans with 6 of
40 in the Senate and 21 of 160 in the House.
This led Senate President
Travaglini to sneer to A.P.: "The Republican party has spent $4 million
in four months trying to convince the voters of Massachusetts that we
were no longer worthy of their continued trust and confidence. They answered
today resoundingly, saying they were pleased."
This leaves Republicans and
the entire state with no opposition leader of any sort said Pawlick: “We
have seen the Democrats violate our state Constitution for two elections
in a row, and yet the state has no credible leader to stop that corruption.”
Romney blamed his poor showing yesterday
on the John Kerry “tidal wave,” even though 37% in the state voted against
Kerry with no leadership from the Governor or anyone here to help them.
Many say that was not a “tidal wave.”
Jennifer Peters
Continues to Not Report All the News
The A.P. continues to allow Jennifer
Peters to slant the news, says Pawlick. The big news of the day should
be that Emile Goguen (D-Fitchburg), the leader of the fight to Remove
Margaret Marshall and her three cohorts for their illegal role in forcing
homosexual “marriage,” is still in office ready to continue his fight.
He received an overwhelming 71% against a handpicked homosexual opponent
in the primary.
Also, Phil Travis (D-Rehoboth)
who is working to Remove Margaret Marshall just yesterday clobbered his
opponent, who was supported by both the Human Rights Campaign and Gov.
Romney, by a margin of 63%. But A.P. does not consider that to be important
news, said Pawlick.
