Attorney J. Edward Pawlick Says That Marshall Was Warned
Attorney J. Edward Pawlick made the following statement upon hearing that Judge Margaret Marshall had made a defense of her illegal ruling on ‘marriage.’
Margaret, you know that my wife, Sally, was trying to warn you when she filed the ethics complaint against you in April 2003, but you had already made your Faustian deal with Pinch Sulzberger and Mary Bonauto. You were unable to back out, weren’t you?
And I personally warned you in front of the full court in May 2003 that you would not survive if you tried to decree “marriage” for homosexuals. We’ve spent quite a bit of time together since the fall of 2002, haven’t we?
Sally and I were surprised when you went ahead with your scheme last year. That was not smart, Margaret, and now the citizens and politicians have no choice but to Remove you. You can’t say you weren’t warned.
You may want to fight to the last, but it won’t do any good. The honorable thing is to allow the other three to resign and probably keep their pensions. They all have families and should not risk losing their benefits. As I remember, it amounts to over $1 million for each of them. We all know that Speaker Finneran refused to allow a vote on Removal because he knew the legislators planned to Remove you from office. That is why the Speaker could not allow a vote.
You will be Removed after the election. Rep. Emile Goguen, who was a friend in years past and would still like to be, has personally promised you to your face, hasn’t he? So do the right thing now. Resign and end this ugly affair while you can still hold your head high and say you are resigning because of the “attack politics” of the “far right” that you talked about in your speech. Such a course will make you look good and will allow the three judges who listened to you retire with their benefits. Everything will be different after the election.
Resigning now is the right thing to do.
