Sighting: 2004 Presidential Race Has Begun
It said that we have had peace in Iraq for "nearly three weeks" and why didn't all the Iraqis have plenty of food and water? But it was only 2 weeks and 3 days since peace was declared when the story was written on April 26. The Globe reported on April 10 that peace had occurred the day before, on April 9. Why did the story stretch the truth to "nearly three weeks?" Obviously, they are into electing a Democrat in 2004. Why doesn't the Times/Globe ever reveal who are the writers of these "news stories?" Are they so ashamed of their reporters? There's no place either in the print edition or the Internet that a reader can find anything to indicate the background of any reporter for the Globe. This editorial was written by Elizabeth A. Neuffer and Bryan Bender. Does anyone know who they are? They did admit that 60% of the Iraqi population received "government handouts" under the old regime. We obviously have a difficult job as "policeman of the world," but that position was forced on us long before Bush became President. There is little we can do about it now. Certainly, the Times/Globe is not helping the country or the troops with their screeching which is reminiscent of their negative role about Vietnam in the 1960s, when they changed their minds and started attacking our teenage boys who they had been instrumental in sending there.
