Police Chief Petitions to Hold Judges Accountable
Do you want to make Massachusetts judges accountable to the people? Holyoke Police Chief Anthony R. Scott does too. He says he is fed up with liberal judges letting dangerous criminals back onto the streets. He wants the judges to face voters every six years. To make this possible, Chief Scott has announced a plan to amend the state Constitution. He wants judges to be initially appointed for six years, then be required to go before the people to get re-elected for additional six year terms. He also wants their sentencing record to be made public for the people to scrutinize before elections. Current judges would have to face the voters six years after the law is enacted. The legislation to amend the Constitution will be submitted by State Senator Michael Knapik. You can help build popular support for this initiative by printing out and signing this petition and getting others to sign. Then mail the signed petition to Chief Scott's office. The chief would like to bring a million signatures with him when he testifies on behalf of the bill. The signed petitions can be mailed back to Chief Scott's office at: Holyoke Police Dept., Office of the Chief, 138 Appleton St., Holyoke, MA.01040-5706.
